About the presenter
Brad Walker – AKA The Stretch Coach – Coach, author, speaker, stretching expert and nationally ranked athlete
Brad has coached elite level and world champion athletes from sports as diverse as triathlon, motor cycle racing, roller skating, squash and baseball. He’s lectured extensively on stretching, flexibility and sports injury management. In 1990 Brad was ranked 3rd in Australia as a junior competitor at the National Triathlon Long Course Championships (2.2km swim, 80km bike, 20km run). And more recently, represented Australia at the 2018 Triathlon World Championships.

Day 1:
8:00am – 12:00pm: Stretching & Flexibility Theory
- Benefits of stretching; Stretching definitions; The dangers of poor flexibility and factors that cause poor flexibility; Different types of stretching (and their advantages and disadvantages); Rules for safe stretching; Stretching mistakes; Stretching posture and alignment; Working around aches, pains and injuries; Contraindications; How to protect yourself (physically) during the stretches; Fundamentals of designing a stretch routine; Plus basic stretching anatomy and physiology.
12:00pm – 1:00pm: Break
1:00pm – 4:00pm: Applied Stretching Techniques
- Hands-on application and practice of key stretches for the Lower Back, Hips, Glutes, Hamstrings, IT Band, Piriformis and Core.
4:00pm – 5:00pm: Revision and practice
Day 2:
8:00am – 11:00pm: Applied Stretching Techniques
- Hands-on application and practice of key stretches for the Adductors, Groin, Quads, Hips, Calves and Achilles.
11:00am – 12:00pm: Revision and practice

1:00pm – 4:00pm: Applied Stretching Techniques
- Hands-on application and practice of key stretches for the Chest, Shoulders, Upper back, Wrists and Neck.
4:00pm – 5:00pm: Revision and practice
Most class hours are utilized for coaching and learning the stretches. In addition, students learn to apply coaching and instruction techniques in the one-on-one environment in order to gain confidence in their instruction skills. This is primarily movement based and students should wear comfortable clothes to the workshop.
